Your holiday home
Your home for the week lies ± 15km North of Tomar, just outside the village of Chãos. It is 10 minutes on foot to the village square where a market is held every sunday. And it takes an 8 minute drive to the nearby small supermarket, café, petrolstation and cash machine.
The holiday home is a beautifuly restored spaceous villa. You can enjoy lots of privacy, because the owners do not live here.

The walking week
Arrival in your holiday home in Chãos, ± 15 km north of Tomar.
A short walk to get to know one another and the area. Free time for the rest of the day, just to enjoy the start of your holiday.
Walk nr. 1: Dornes at the lake
The village of Dornes lies on a peninsula in the lake of Castelo do Bode. The village is famous for its distinctive Templar Tower and processions. The walk has some stunning views of the lake and Dornes. We begin and end our walk at the village so there is time to see the famous tower.
We take a break for lunch somewhere along our walk. And of course there is time for a cup of coffee in the village or a town a few miles away.

Walk nr. 2: Spa of Agroal
We walk through the quiet hills en beautifull oak forest. Every now and again we come across the Nabão river en some small villages. We take our time for a relaxing lunch at the spa and its riverbeach. And if the weather is warm enough, you could take a dip in the pool.
After the break we still have a very beautiful walk to go.
We will collect you from your holiday home in the morning and you will return there in the afternoon.

Daytrip to the University city Coimbra
Coimbra used to be the capital of Portugal during the middle ages. Nowadays it is famous for its university, which is one of the oldest in Europe. The historical building of the university belong to the world heritage of UNESCO. The Romans as well as the Moors have had a lot of influence in the region. Finaly the city became Portuguese territory again in 1131. Some of the most important buildings date from this era. During the Renaissance Coimbra become widely known with the foundation of the University. And from the 19th century students have played an important role in the city and changed it into thé city for students in Portugal.
We will pick you up at your holiday home in de morning en you will return there in the afternoon or evening.
How you would like to spend the day is up to you. We could explore Coimbra together. But maybe you prefer to do this by yourself. It is up to you and you can decide when the time comes.
Walk nr. 1: Roman Bridge Quebrada do Meio
This beautiful walk takes us to a well hidden Roman bridge near the almost deserted village of Quebrada do Meio. We walk through the hills and villages with olivetrees en grapes. And if we are lucky we will be accompanied by the sound of buzzards high above us.
We have our lunch at the small river and take some time before we start on our way back.
We will pick you up in the morning and you will return there in the afternoon.
